Possibly the most stunning scenery of any spot in Michigan. Situated in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Platte River Point works on WSW, W, NW(onshore), N, and NE winds. A Long and moderately wide sandy beach with plenty of room to spread out gives you access to the water which is shallow for close to 100 meters out. Mostly hard sandy bottom but lots of rocks further out. Rock Reef with some big peelers 3/4 mile out. Conditions range from glassy moderate chop to big Lake Mich swell and crunching shore break.

Looking to the Right you'll see the monster Aral Dunes and Empire Bluffs, to the left the wooded shoreline out to Pt. Betsie. Picturesque indeed, you'll spend lots of time just gazing.

To get to the beach you much forge the Platte River itself ranging from knee cap to upper thigh depth. Parking is $2 per day.
