For those that like to hike and are not going on the GLK Hatteras trip this year, I'll be backpacking from Lake Huron (Oscoda or Tawas) across the state to the town of Empire on Lake Michigan. There is a primitive hiking/horse riding trail, conveniently known as the Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail, that goes from the shore of Lake Huron (cuts through the Huron National Forest) and runs across the state, just south of Traverse City to the shore of Lake Michigan (about 220 miles). Camping is all free (state/federal land), though the hike does follow some roads and two-tracks especially West of I75.

I plan on leaving on April 1st and heading West. If you want to join me, common out I could use your company..maybe even some kiting at either end...if her heiness, Ms. Windy, agrees. There's very little info about the trail online, so this is also a sort of scouting trip. If you think you kight be down even for a short portion of it, shoot me a text.

Here's my blog that I started on it, and I'll add more stuff as I go along (bringing a solar charger and iPhone):

Vlad... Love the blog idea. Looking forward to tracking your movement while G and I are in Hatteras. Keep it moving!

Vlad this is really cool man! Are you worried that you might freeze your nuts off though?

I'm following your blog now. I tweeted about it too, so now 3 other people know! laugh.gif

Hahaha, hurray! Freezing nuts I'm not worried about (got a toasty 0* bag); Brazilian barking frogs on the other hand...

Gotta get some glitches worked out with the blog in adding pictures from my phone, and then actually posting some more useful stuff on there. Still, I don't know what to do about the barking frogs... blink.gif

Peace ma homies.

Hey Guys,

We set Vlad up with a SessionAlert map so that we can follow him as he hikes the Shore To Shore trail. You can find the map on his blog and on http://www.sessionalert.com (look on the right for the blurb about the Shore To Shore trail).

Should be fun!
