3. meteorology area north of equator: an area with no wind or light variable winds just north of the equator in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, situated between the trade winds

4. meteorology nautical weather conditions in doldrums: the weather conditions prevailing in the doldrums that cause sailing ships to become becalmed

Looks like its blowing now at the Fairport Harbor lighthouse, and the weekend looks good for Conneaut or the sandbar. Other than the trip to Wake Nation, I haven't been on the water in what seems like a month.
