Hello all,
I went down to Hatteras to get some lessons and came back with some gear (12M Cabrinha Convert). Got up and rode down there, much better left foot forward than right, and never done a transition (other than sit my butt down and start the other way). The sound is super forgiving, as it is shallow and the waves were mostly just chop in 18-20 mph wind. Unfortunately, in the week I was there, it was only blowing enough to kite for about 6-8 hours total. I was out on Erie once since then and the winds were side onshore, leaning towards onshore, and I was having a hard time staying out far enough to be comfortable. Popped up briefly and sat back down, then board drag some more. I'm looking for people to go out and ride with in the Cleveland area. Seems like better places for beginners include are Edgewater, Mentor Headlands, Conneaut, Presque Isle, Maumee Bay. Seems like there should be some good spots around Sandusky, but I haven't heard of too many. Is it worth going out to the islands/has anyone been out there? Few places have much room to go downwind, which makes it hard to learn. Any advice for a new rider on these locations? Please post if you going out riding in the Cleveland area (plus or minus an hour drive), or email me at jxb176@case.edu and perhaps we could exchange contact info? Thanks!

Looks like this weekend might be good for Conneaut. Maybe.

Still a chance that Conneaut may be good tomorrow.

Keep an eye on the radar map at Wildwood Yach Club and the Conneaut weather station.

If the rain misses and the wind starts to pick up, I'll probably be there. I will post here if I go.

I'm still tired from Yesterday. I was wondering if that was you on the beach at Edgewater flying a small yellow foil, but I guess not.

Not sure if you're aware, but wunderground.com has these weatherstations and more, and plots them on the 'wundermap' live, so you get a live wide area idea of where the wind is. Most aren't on the lake, but I've learned a lot so far by keeping an eye on the wind data and weather patterns.

Looks like the rain may pass this afternoon. If I go, I intend to stop by Mentor Headlands, first. It may be good there.

I got a late start, but its blowing WNW and I am heading out to Conneaut

My son and I are new to the sport. We have a great place to kite and sail in Sandusky bay. The bay we go to Is on the east side of the cedar point cause way. It has lots of room to fly and is shallow. As we get better we can go to any type of beach close by. We are in this bay every weekend, also will be there tomorrow
