5:17 pm and no wind yet. Checked Sailflow.com and there is supposed to be wind at about 7-8pm. But the great lakes forecast says 5-10 knots. Who do you believe? I have found the forecasts to be so unreliable this year. Is is just me? Maybe Obama should put some of that stimulus money into better wind forecasters and equipment. We need a wind meter at Mitchell's Bay as well as a webcams there and at Belle River. Oh wait, that is in Canadian Waters. I think I'll write a letter to Joe Comartin our MP.

Yah, I drove out but it was dead. I noticed that it didn't actually pick up until 9pm instead of the predicted 7pm.

Oh well.

Was waiting for it to come up.

Had most of the conditions for a good evening breeze to blow in,

Good steady onshore northerly flow,
Sun was out most of the day heating the land,
The tempature rose all day and then started to drop right in the evening at 6.00

So what happened?

The spread between the water tempature and the over land tempature has
narrowed considerably as lake st clair has warmed up quite a bit to about 15C or
60 F. The air tempature was about the same yesterday.

Because of the lower temp spread you don't get as much cooler air off the lake
moving over the land, being heated quickly which makes it rise relatively fast,
fast enough to create a good wind for us to kite on.

At 6.00 the tempature started to drop slightly and you can see where the wind did the usual evening bump up when its out of the north, just not enough to kite on.

We needed a warmer day.

P.S. I just got my ACL rebuilt and am bored out of my mind zoning out on pain killers. If the winds
are out of the north don't hesitate to call. I can still watch.

Here's to a safe and windy Kite Stock this weekend!
