I got about an hour's ride today out on the Sandusky Bay. It was wet and light, but still fun.

Dont think I'll be going back out on that ice for awhile...it was getting just a bit sketchy...

Did anyone else get any sets in?
BizB
Nope.

redskykiter and I met at MB for a ride, but the wind never filled in.

Just be glad we'll be riding soft water soon!

I was out on Sandusky Bay Saturday. Alone.

I was on my 8MTurbo Diesel most of the time, got some big jumps, many of them near that tower about a hundred yards off of Cedat Point, while wearing my helmet cam. I'll post the video somewhere tonight.

I got some good speed runs with my GPS. My top speed of the day was 46mph, but I think I accidently deleted that from my GPS unit.

Sunday I spent at home watching TV, because I was all used up.

Ahh so that was you huh? I must've gotten a good half-dozen calls Saturday telling me there was somebody out kiting on the bay.

How did you like it man? Im sure you had MUCH better condition than I did yesterday...

Cant wait to see that video.
SaulOhio
Here's the video. It didn't turn out as good as I hoped. I need to put some kind of viewfinder on my goggles so I can know what is in the frame. You can't see the tower through enough of the jump to tell how high I am getting, except maybe very briefly.

Cool man looks good! You had WAAAY better conditions than I had the next day for sure.

Is your camera on a helmet mount or did you just tape the shit out of it until it was secure?

You'll have to let me know next time youre riding on my turf man...it'd be cool to kite with someone out there. Oh, you've gotta show me how to do that launch method you used too.
SaulOhio
The launch method was mostly an accident. I had a sandbag on the kite, and I intended to pull one corner of the kite over to get wind in the wingtip to turn it around, like normal, but the sandbag moved back to the trailing edge, wind got under the leading edge, and it just flipped up. Worked out OK, anyway.

The helmet cam is on a metal mount velcroed to my helmet.

I got it at www.helmetcamera.com

It looks like there is an outside chance that the weather is going to get cold enough to save the ice for this weekend. I'd love to come out that way again if its still good. Can you let me know?
Luke War
I'll let you know only if you bring out your helmet cam if you come out. tongue.gif

For real though, I'll keep things posted here on the forum on what the bay ice is like. I'd bet it probably wont be great after this sleet and gale winds we've had all day, but then again I dont know. Im gonna go down and check tomorrow.
