I have used a Zodiac for rescues and friendliness. It is good for that, but for launching it has to be a pretty big Zodiac. I have a 10' Zodiac for sale , if anyone is looking.
Windkiter
In Aruba with the offshore winds, they use a small 10' zodiac with a 15hp which works well because it so portable and I've been rescued in it with 5 people in the boat. Also a boston whaler type boat with a flat bottom is super stable and works the same way.

I have a 10 foot Zodiac with a 9horse, four stroke Honda. We also use a wave runner with a 4 foot zodiac attached to the back to carry gear. It is also easy to pickup stranded kiters, as they can just roll into the small zodiac attached to the back. The waverunner also allows for shallow water.
