Full Version: Going to India
Kite U.S. Forums > Industry Resources & Information > Resources > Travel
Hey all,

I'm debating on whether or not to take my kites. I've emailed people and internet surfed for a couple of hours looking for ANY kiteboarding information in Goa or Bombay (Mumbai) w/o any luck.

Anyone have any news?

I'm leaving May the 11th.

Last year I met an Italian kiter ( Aletalia Pilot). His
mother was Indian. So he had cousins in Goa. He mentioned
that his cousin was trying to open up a kite school in goa.
But the fishermen's union would not let him do it.

Now I don't know how far this is true. Also I'd suspect the
quality of water with a lot of unregulated industrial waste going in on
the coasts. Bombay I suppose would be really really crowded.
The beaches would be teaming with people. The first thing which
hit's a westerner is the amount of humanity per square feet
of land. But if you do get riding you'd probably get the biggest
audience any kiter's ever got.

I'll probably touch base with you on saturday. Let me know the
cities you'd be going to .

Yes, people kiteboard in Goa. Have a look at: and search on India
Steve, I spent an hour googling for 'India' 'Kiteboarding' 'Kitesailing' 'kitesurfing'. And All I got was
Jlatino's post on another site looking for kite boarding info.
Looks like the IT folks are using some search engine on steroids, not
known to the general public !!!
