Full Version: bahamas update
Kite U.S. Forums > Industry Resources & Information > Resources > Travel
the winds in the bahamas are light but the surf has been good. Lots of surfing every morning at uncrowded breaks and inconsistent winds in the afternoon. Trying to dial in some new moves and JoeB. is going off landing some big handle passes and spectacular crashes with a couple of kiteloop handlepass attempts. Normal trades winds are kicking in this weekend. Will keep you up to date.

Back in town for a short while after hanging with Great Lakes waterman Jared Roth (JD) for two weeks of sailing through the Bahamas island chain in search of wind and waves. JD is the consumate waterman. Most impressive is his affinity to ride waves, weather it's on a surfboard or a kiteboard. Most suprising is his command skills behind the wheel of the Micjay, a 70 foot sail boat. JD did an masterful job of navigating the Micjay through some narrow passage ways to insure that we were riding waves during the proper tide sequence. Unfortunately, the wind was not consistant and we ended up doing more surfing than kiteboarding. Next time you see JD, you should ask him about getting chased by a 10 foot hammer head shark.
