Today was a great reminder for me to pay attention while rigging. I was way too busy talking and totally FUBARed my ride for an 11 mile downwinder in 18-25 knots and waves.

Tip #1 Try to have different color patterns for each size kite you own.

Tip #2 Be sure to use the right control system for the intended kite.

I did not follow tip #1 or #2 and ended up on a 14M Contra III (instead of my Crossbow III 12M which is exactly the same color layout) with a 1:1 Switchblade bar. Shocking that I could mess that much up and still get on the water, but the wind was so gusty that I just attributed the completely off feeling of the pull to the wind. By the time I figured it out we were an 1/8 mile into a down winder and I just decided to put the kite at 10 and follow the freight train for 11 miles. (Thanks to Joe B. & Tammy for the ride back to MK)

So it you have any questions about Cabrinha gear, new or old (been riding them since 2001), and my above mistakes have not scared you off, please post'em and I will do my best to help.

Alex Caviglia, accomplished windsurfer and kiteboarder, former president and
founder of Adventure Sports, Inc., the North and South American distributors
for Cabrinha, Neil Pryde, Bic and Tiga, died in hospital Saturday, November
13, 2004.

Alex suffered a severe head injury in a kiteboarding accident one year ago.
Alex fought hard to recover, and was able to express his love for his family
and friends before he left us. Alex is survived by his wife, Silvia and his
children Bianca and Michael.

Silvia Caviglia requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in
memory of her husband Alex to "Alex's Bluewater Foundation." The "Alex's
Bluewater Foundation" is a non-profit charitable foundation currently being
formed to benefit victims of watersports related injury. Additional
information regarding this foundation will be posted shortly.

Donations may be sent to:

Alex's Bluewater Foundation
c/o Silvia Caviglia
5724 SW 131 TERRACE
MIAMI, FL 33156

I will be sending in a donation and with a card from who ever would like to participate. Simply make out your check to the Foundation and I will include it with the card and sign your name. Would be nice to do this in the next week or two. If you want to send it directly, obviously that is just fine. If you do want me to send it along with other donations from area riders, just send the check to me and I will post when it is sent.

Since we are pretty much between the liquid and crystalized H2O local riding seasons, please take the time to give some feedback from the heartland.
