What's up Lake St. Clair!

Hopefully I'll be seeing some of you in Grand Haven in September.

Just wanted to drop a line and see if you guys are getting exposed to "Crossbow Euphoria."

Crossbow Euphoria is characterized by rabid hype and unguided evangalism of the Cabrinha Crossbow... Warning signs include fever, clammy palms, and foaming drool from the mouth.

All kidding aside, there's a contingent of riders here in MN that are all whipped up about the Crossbow. I haven't seen the kite up close yet, but from everything I've read about the kite it just isn't all that. It has it's good points and bad points.

It looks and sounds like a product of LEI and ram-air kites having children. Personally, I think the kite is probably a decent intermediate kite. I doubt I would ride one myself.

According to some of the folks around here, it is as if God himself came down and graced us with salvation by bringing us the Crossbow. You guys (and gals) are a sophisticated kiting community - what's your take?

This has got to rank as one of the coolest and most unique sessions ever:

Alex Peterson on my home pond using 200ft of waterski rope to "tow-jump" up to around 80ft...

I think he may be up for a Darwin award soon. :-)

Just so you Detroit, Chicago, and other folks believe there really IS decent wind and waves in Minnesota, check out these shots I took from last Sunday in Duluth, MN on Lake Superior:
(please excuse the windsurfing shots)

The kiter is Joe Levins That decent jump of his (3rd frame) is about 25ft or more. The waves a ways out there were 6-10ft (small for the wind we had). You can get a rough idea of the wave height on the outside by looking at the windsurfer in the first frame.

I got trashed on my 9m Virus after breaking a line, and had to swim in 250yards through the rip. Gave me the chance to take some photos, though...

If you were one of the folks having problems with the "automatic login" feature of the forums (which should have been most everyone), I made some changes that should clear it up - it should work now.

Sorry for the hassles - enjoy the ability to NOT have to enter your username and password everytime...

Wind coming the next few days, big day coming up Saturday on Lake Superior. Stay tuned for pics.
