I have not seen many locals using a board leash. I am new and if I could keep my board next to me when re-launching and after I dump, I would get much more time on the water. I find myself chasing my board and in some instances it ends up on land while I attempt to re-launch. When this occurs I land/crash the kite to go get the board, which causes my lines get twisted. See where most of my time is spent! :x

I know these problems are just a learning curve and will go away with time on the water and getting familiar with my equipment. If I didn't fall, I would not lose my board. I am not a real patient person and I spend so much time chasing my board it is frustrating. I am sure not many use the leash to avoid getting clocked by the board when you fall. I am not real keen on wearing a helmet because chicks don’t dig it!

If it is not safe to use the leash 100% of the time, what about just when I am walking out and after I fall attaching it?

My concern of just using it for the above question is where should I attach the leash when I am riding?

Any recommendations from you seasoned veterans?

Turtle, something tmight help you out is if you pick up a leash that you can just wear on your harness. I have a spinning leash that, if I am trying to launch my kite or relaunch, I can slide the leash through the footstrap and then the board will stay with me until I am ready. I would not recommend attaching yourself to the board during riding though. It is nice to leave the board behind(way behind sometimes) you will learn the art of getting back to your board really quick if you practice where it is shallow.
hope this helps
