Kite US discussion forum September 2012:

It's been a solid month since the last post on this forum
I used to check in daily to find lively kiting discussion
This is where it all started for me
If you're like me you miss those days
The link to my old favorite bouy (LSCM4) on KiteMI is of course useless too
The only thing permanent in life is change
I don't even have a FB account but this might be the last straw
RIP KiteMI/KiteUS, it was a good run

so, the question comes down to are you alone? or is it just that we all stopped posting cuz we assume the same thing? i also check forum on a regular basis to see the happs and would love to see a revival! soooo.. all you metro punks start telling the rest of us when and where, and if we are not there then give it to us. sid, brar, jontan, vlad, kk,smile.gif, kubs, countryman, edt .....or even a red bird would do

If it's just gonna be me and you jitters we can use this as our private, even clandestine, comminique'. Which is great news! We can stop hiding our emails and texts from the wives.... but alas, we will still be living a lie.

I still check the forum and miss it...and I moved to Hawaii! The facebook page is very lively...but I kind of don't like facebook...it is like a nessary evil these days for me...

Anyway, still hoping some of you guys will make it out here to ride! And enjoy enjoy the nature trail and Tawas. Especially Tawas when you can ride from the open part of the lake into the bay for flat water...

And learn to gybe on flat water while you can...

No Facebook here either, but haven't been posting either. Heard from my dad that some dudes braved our version of Sandy and were riding Tawas earlier this week. Respect.

Three years ago I was on a plane to Brazil. How time flies. 4 years ago, and a few days, KyleK and I made the epic, exposed 50k downwinder from isla do guehiro to prea. We kited through rivers of sea until the tide came up. 2 hours of passing fishermen and then 3 hours of beaches, shore break, toe side, and 5 donkeys. The whole time 25 plus. Should have taken water, but hindsight is always 20-20.

Planning on getting a new surf board shaped this winter. Felt like I wanted some more speed for the few days we got this summer with waves. I know it was an underpowered summer but I rode all the time. Was lulled into not even looking at weather reports, just looking out the window and pumping when I saw the whitecaps. I would recommend extensions to everyone, I rode 27 meter lines all summer.

Hoping we get some more juice in 2013. I have a new 9 that only saw the water once in 2012. Just didn't get to ride any days that it cranked.

Hope everyone is doing well. KyleK a few weeks ago I was reminded of a day 5 years ago in October that we ventured out in the sea turtle and you introduced me to the marshes near strawberry island. The kite gods smiled upon us that day as you rode 14m helix and I rode 14m Vegas and we both enjoyed an overpowered session. Think spring, and Cruz don't give into Facebook!

ABHIII in the house! Great prose my friend.

I'm thinking key west at the moment.... 4 weeks and counting. Jittery jake's neck of the woods! I heard the glass bottom boating is off the hook this time of year and I can't wait. I'll be red-faced sipping mojito'swith a Euro-speedo and zinc-covered nose in line at the activities booth.

On a more serious note, I've joined the strapless ranks with a 6'4" quad this fall courtesy of MCK. Due to circumstances beyond my control (2 gorgeous healthy babies) I have only had two lame gusty Goon sessions with her. Here's to my first killer wave day... which will hopefully be a lengthy spring downwinder on one of the big lakes.

Everyone went over to the FB page Metro Beach Kiteboarding Club. You may want to get a FB account. Not a fan but the only way you will stay updated Cruz. The reality is that FB is taking over.....even forums.

Cheers,

I'd like to say that I miss the forum.... And riding with you guys... Jitters most of the riders you listed don't even ride metro anymore. There was a Brar sighting 1 day this year. Heck I'm out there most days and I don't even know half the riders there now. And Cruz bring them babies out to the beach! Mine have been at metro more then Jontan this year! And there only 8months now rolleyes.gif

i've had about 40 sesh this year so far, and I am ready for the ice to thaw getting pretty bruised on this ice

Figured it was worth the note, finally got to ride that 9 in Hatteras first week of April. It was f'n cold, never saw anything above 50, but we scored three nice days of wind. Two nice 12m days and one gnarly 9m day for me. Can always hold that 9 down.

Picked up a new surfboard this winter, Naish Skater, seems like it will work nicely through the summer. Starting to head North to Tawas on Memorial Day, hope to be a fixture on the beach for June-August. Feeling excited or summer, hoping we ave some lagoons at Tawas point, and that we can get some nice thermal there like the old days. Hoping for some skim action w the extensions. Supposedly new Park has better low end. Will know soon.

I do like this forum. Still holding out on fb. Heard there's been some consolidation amongst the business owners, best of luck. And Kyle the mountains finally nabbed you? You say the word and I'll make sure he mountains are blue on the beach. Man I lost my only other dawg on the skimboard.

Cruz are you still flying that wicked 9m Vegas set up suicide on the bar? If so, respect. And congrats to you and Jenny on the little one.

Forum might be dyin, but the wind keeps blowin. If you need to find me, just wait for that wind to blow and I'll be charging in Tawas. To a great summer............
