Will be at Metro round about 11am. First time at this spot, hopefully it will work - any suggestions?

Forecast details on weather.com say SW 13 - 14 from 9am - Building to 15kts by 2pm then Switching WSW at 3pm.

Make sure your off the water before it switch's to WSW cause that direction wont work at that spot. SW is fine though.

It turns out I've gotta work tomorrow and I don't know if it would be worth it to leave early like 12:00. I'm feeling the storm might be a little later than they think.
I'm hopeing someone else will be there to help you get comfortable with the launch. The trees make a nice wind break so play it safe. If you hot launch then just get the kite closer to the edge as you start to bring it up into the wind.
When you get into the water head over toward the bowl. It's shallow over there and there's not all the rocks and shit at the shore line. We'll, no rocks, anyway! It's a intimidating launch. I'm sure you know where it is and where to walk out into the water right. DaySail Ramp parking lot, Far side of parking lot is grassy spot with a little hill on it. Launch is right out towards the water between the trees.

Here's Where You Walk Out!

To the left is the bowl.

Be Safe biggrin.gif The wind is all up top sometimes. Not always on the water. Relaunch can suck in those situations.

Lake St Clair bouy say's SW 14knts gusting to 15knts at 6:00am -

Weather.com hourly report for Mt clemens has moved up the WSW switch to around 1PM - darn

Mt clemens, Details

Maybe I'll get to hit up Walled Lake on the way home from work. Getting onto Walled lake is like trying to break into prison. State park has life guard out and they've gave me a hard time about going out onto the water from their beach access.

Got at Metro around 4pm. Storms finished and a slight breeze was comeing from the WSW. I'm posting this to let you know that WSW is ok to ride at metro. It just makes the launch alot more difficult from the land. I launched kite right from the shore of the day sail ramp, right before the pavilion, between the two trees.

In fact I think there was a time 5 years ago that a bunch of us rode on a west there. It gets real gusty near the shore but It's still better than any inland lake. Not ideal but do able with a water launch.

How was the wind earlier in the day?

Mike on wsw you can also launch from the grassy area west of the sidewalk by the swim area. Just be sure to stay out of the swim area.
