Okay, four days of 80+ degrees and sunny blue skies on the wide open beaches of the Big Lake provided the backdrop for this dealyo.

Thursday I arrove just as the wind picked up N at about 3:00. A good sized crew were rigging up including Otis from Dominican Republic, NBowers from RRD, Naish pro Topher from the Gorge, GS in from Hatteras, DCiora from Detroit Brewing Co Handjive team, Cabby boys BigAir and Skip, SoCal Todd, the Sharkless Syndicate, Belle River MoJo, and even Doug de la Norte. About 20 kiters got their groove on in a two hour expression session. Fun mellow session, powered on big kites on glassy water. Topher and NB killing it with SBend to blinds and front loop sbends, BigAir with his unique big late unwraped 3 downloop transitions, and GS with his involutary kite loop from blind. Alot of traffic but easy to relax and feel it. That night we watched local kite vids and slideshow projected onto a huge wall at the Kerby Grill. Whiskey was flowing, some of the Chicago crew started rolling in and soon enough it was on.

Friday offered a hint of offshore breeze and another beaut of a day. Crossbow and 5th line clinics were held and more riders appeared on the beach including DC from TC, Trent and Gene from 'sconsin, Cabrinha international rider Cam D, and the rest of the Chicago entourage. Nobody rode so we had plenty of energy for the pizza party at the Mak Kite store that night. Jake from MacKite inflicted his will on all with the Tequila shots and it was back to the Kerby for more Tequila and listening to the sweet stylings of Jessica and her guitar. By the time we made it to the Rosebud we were a merry lot, and sloppy too. Capped off the night at the Chicago house with a afterhours on their huuge elevated deck.

Saturday the word got around quick that Lil Point Sable was the place so we posse'd up. Everyone showed up before the day was done - Metro beach locals J-rod, AAA, and foilMIke, Noabacca, 'Berto Villareal, Jimbo, and many many more. We rode powered for hours on 12s and 14s, I never ride the 12 - what a treat! Lots of good kiting: MattStrand sending it big, more Nic Bowers sickness on the new Type 7 RobRicci with gucci leash, and Uncle Doug with his non-stop style. So many kites, I counted 34 on the water and later someone said they counted 38. The beach was filled with kites for a mile. That night was the Blue Water Inn party, good eats and more whiskey. Later we had a dance inferno at the Rosebud listening to this great 80s band that covered the Clash, Joe Jackson, and 8675309 amongst others. Beat from a big day on the water this night fizzled out a bit early.

Sunday we awoke (late) to see about 12-14 kt S wind. The bracket was set and the comp was on. The wind casually lightened up and there was some upwind walking but it was fun and got'er done.

Results:
1st - Cam D - Cabrinha Crossbow/Underground
2nd - GS - Airush/Aggression
3rd - Topher - Naish Torch
4th - Bowers - RRD

In the end everyone had huge smiles on, drained from all the sun, booze, and riding. And thankfully no Drama (thankfully). It will be a few days before all are fully recovered.

Big Ups to MacKite for another dope production!
