A spot that is becoming more and more popular is Mitchells Bay. There is very little beach there but the water is very shallow for about 1 mile out. There is a very simple and safe way to lauch here even if alone.

1. set up lines so that bar will be near the edge of the water and kite is downwind of bar.

2. make sure that the bar and kite are oriented so that you can easily get to the water without wood, weeds, debris, etc getting tangled in your lines.

3. Pump up kite and attach lines. Kite will be straight downwind from the bar.

(the slick part) 4. Pick up the kite by the leading edge and flip it over on it's back. Make sure that you walk ~20ft towards the kite so that you do not pull the bar which can tangle your lines.

5. Walk with the kite in one hand till you get to the bar.

6. Now pick up the bar in your other hand and grab your bar as well as your board (easy to do if you have a small board with a grab strap in the middle)

7. Walk out into the water atleast 300ft offshore.

8. flip the kite over and face it so the wind does not catch it (leading edge forward so the wind blows over it).

9. Walk upwind away from the kite slowly making sure that there are no tangles in the lines. The kite will slowly rotate to catch the wind usually just as your lines tighten up.

10. You are now in the normal waterstart position that you would be in if you crashed your kite. Check your lines that they are not tangled and proceed to water launch your kite, away from any hazards that you would have faced if you launched on the beach in a tight spot.

hey timmy, you forgot one thing in your explenation. when you place the kite leading edge down on the water, you have to push the leading edge under the water to get some water ontop of the wing. this slows the kites drift time significantly. this is especially handy in powered up conditions. it keeps the kites drift speed slower than your walking speed. Handy if unwinding your lines.
