I managed to get out to Headlands after work today and went out with my 17M. Had a good session, a bit gusty, but I was well powered, stayed upwind, did some good jumping. When I was done and carrying my big 20M that I left on the beach back to the car, one of the park rangers pulled up across the parking lot from my car with all his lights flashing. When I walked up and asked "Whats the problem?" he said "Your late. The park's closing." I was surprised, since it was still fairly light, but I hadn't seen the sun set because it was so cloudy. blink.gif The park is supposed to close 1/2 hour after sunset. Signs at the front gate and right there by the beach say so. So I asked him what time it was, and he said it was 7:59, and the sunset was at 7:19. I told him that can't be right, and I had checked the sunset time a few days ago, and it was supposed to be after 8:00. But I told him I would pack up as fast as I could anyway. I did so, and had just picked up all my gear for one trip back to the car when he came up to me and said "My apologies. You were right. I read the chart wrong." laugh.gif

There have been issues with the park closing with windsurfers and kiters still packing up their gear before. Before you head out there, it may be a good idea to check the internet for the correct time for sunset. Remember, the park is supposed to close 1/2 hour AFTER sunset, so if you know for sure exactly when thats supposed to be, you don't have to let them chase you off too soon.

Hehe...sounds like one park ranger was a bit to eager to get home and watch the Friday night lineup on television... tongue.gif

Nice you got out at least! The parkrangers need to find better things to do. I got my new kite in the mail today and went out to the powerplant. It was rideable there but just offshore. Decided not to go. Still working on the forecast tomorrow. Conneaut or closer???? Sunday looks like it would be better out there but I'm game for whatever. I'll check the morning forecast and make the call from there.
