Hi all,

Just wanted to updated everyone to our local kiteboarding festival this weekend (June 3,4th) on Lake St.Clair. The event is at Mitchell's Bay, Ontario, Canada about 1 hour from Detroit.

For more info, directions and accomodation options check out our site www.Kitestock.ca

Highlights for the event this year included:

-water temps in the 70-75F range http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/erie/e10.html for the satelite water temps, M-Bay is in the right upper corner where the 74F water is.
-Several pro riders: Denver Coon and a few other LF riders; Sam Medsky, Mike Lanoe:Naish; Jesse from Best, and all the top local great lake guys from Michigan/Ohio and Ontario.
-Rep's from the following companies will be there demoing gear: Naish, Ocean Rodeo, Best, Liquid Force, Peter Lynn, Slingshot
-Gear Raffle: 16m from Best, OR Pryro Drysuit, board and IPod from LF and gear from Naish, Reef and Wipika
-A ton of door prizes from: West 49, Reef, RedBull, North, SBC Kiteboard, etc,etc
-The kite barge will be here: check out the video at http://www.surfculturecanada.ca/video/MemorialMonday.WMV
-Boardercross event wind permitting; mass downwinder with the barge for sure.
-Kiter's Party Saturday night 8pm - 2am featuring local band Ruth's Hat with local legend Mike Sloan the frontman for this amazing band.
-the only cost for the event is a $2 cover for the party.
-10ft Kicker for those looking for a thrill

Forecast at the moment looks promising. The bay thermals this time of the year 5-10 knot stronger than the forecast so don't let a light marine forecast scare you away as the thermal kicks in from 2-6pm. We will be using the barge for a 5-8 mile downwinder so even if it only blows 10kts we will be able to ride.

If you are coming in on friday night we will be hanging out at the beach at the RedBull RV. Call me at 519-919-7907 for more info.

Tim, I am leaving from around Selfrige Air Force Base right near Metro Beach for Kite Stock.

I would think it is closer for me to do the Algonac Ferrry route rather than going downtown and using the Bridge, right?

Let me know, I am going to be heading out about 3pm on Friday.

John

Yes, Algonac is faster for you. Royal Oak seems to be about the midpoint. I've driven both ways from Royal Oak and they take about the same time depending on how long you have to wait for the Algonac ferry. North of Royal Oak is faster going through Algonac.

Hi,

forecast looks like a north 10 -15 for Sat - does M-Bay work @ a north wind at all? Do the thermals come up with North as well?

Thanks for any help understanding

Cornelius

Hi all,

We are planning on riding at Belle River Friday.

North Winds are ok Mitchell's Bay. We will have the 40ft pontoon there and we be launching from MBay and doing a 5-8 mile downwinder and picking up everyone with the pontoon to return them to the beach.

I'm about to go pick up my new 14m Cabrinha Contra Bow from Kyle. If I know you and you're an experienced rider, you're welcome to test it out, although I get the first ride... biggrin.gif I'll be at Kitestock Saturday afternoon through Saturday night. Just ask me if you'd like to try it out. While you ride my kite, I'll borrow yours and ride yours.
