I was wondering if anyone has tried the short little snow skis with their kite?

I am just learning how to snowboard, so I pulled out my long downhill skis. I picked it up in minutes, but I think those short skis would work even better. The transition is a little tricky with long skis, but very cool.

I seen a Mini snowboard for adults, has anyone researched this new technology for snow kiting. Since the snowboard is 1/2 the size it looks much easier to move around on and with the kite to give you power it should be fine. I am doing some research on it so any information would be appreciated.

QUOTE(Turtle)
My old ski boots are killing my feet and need to be upgraded. I guess my feet have grown from when I was 20 or they just fatter due to gravity.

I was thinking of buying new ski boots. Does anyone know if I need to spend a boat load of money on boots for Kite Skiing or will a cheap pair do just fine?

I was also re-thinking cutting my old skis down and might buy the shortest skis possible new (again cheap). My bindings are from the 80's and a ski shop won't even re-mount them for me.

Does anyone know what the shortest (non-micro) skis you can get for an adult?. I was at Sports Authority yesterday and seen some short ones, but I think they are kids. Does it matter? Should I look for a certain stiffness? Is one brand or style going to be better for the ice than another?

Help a Turtle out! Any input would be much appreciated.

I'm using the same boots I had in the 80's, and they work fine, even with the much newer micro skis. If you really need new boots, try Play It Again Sports. They should have good boots and straight skis you can get for a song and won't feel much hesitation cutting them down. Just remember, for ice they need to be really sharp. I run them over my belt sander a couple of times.
