Hello Ohio, Just a word up to consider a road trip to Lake St Clair for Sunday. For all who have seen the Metro Beach Magic, it is a special power. Conditions are perfect for an afternoon thermal with our South wind.

Check out the Lake St Clair Discussion Board on www.KiteMI.com for details.

John

Had no takers for the trip today so headed to check out spots up around marblehead and hope for the wind to come through. About 1:30 found a little launch at the state park on the west side of Catawba. I think we'd be able to catch a SW and SSW there. At 2 Luke gave me a ring saying metro was going off so hopped in the Steamer and headed up to d-town. Everyone was riding 12's till sunset. It was NICE!!!!

Same as all the other Ohio spots....sketchy. The thing that sticks straight out is a flat concrete pier then there is a small pebble beach to the left.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the forum, or I would have gone with you. My bad.

I'm planning on getting a cell phone, so once I do, we can keep in touch that way.

Where did you find that satellite image? Google doesn't show that resolution for that area.

I'm thinking of going out there today after work.

Google maps doesn't have that area covered but Yahoo does!

Saul and Joel my brother Ted and I have a Boat that we are going to use on southerlies. This might take the guess work out of where to go. After watching how easy it was for mike in Miami I am more then confident we could do it here. You can bring people back up wind without dropping the kite in the water. Here is my cell so I can get on your call list.

Doug...I also own a boat and have used it for south wind days. It is great because the lake is flat but south winds can really make for gusty conditions. Where were you planning go out? (what port)

I know its kinda dated now, but this is the first ive had time to get on the forum. I know of that spot on the west side of Catawba youre talking about Joel. I talked to some guys from Red Sky Toledo and they've ridden there before. They say its HELLA sketchy.....super choppy, crazy launches and definatly need assisted landings. Not to mention there is no place to bail if you get in trouble. All that being said Id definatly be up for riding there sometime if anyone ever wanted too. biggrin.gif

Does anyone have a boat in or near Sandusky? I want to try Bay Point on the west side of Marblehead, but there is no way to get to it by land. Ive been told there is a sandbar over there that everyone boats to to party at and it looks like its about the only sandy beach place in the area. It would be a killer spot for a good S or SW wind. I'd be more than willing to chip in for a bit of gas to get there...or buy the beer to drink once we are there. wink.gif

Here's a pic of Bay Point off Marblehead I was talking about...
Its pretty small, but its the biggest image it would let me upload for some reason.

Looks interesting. I have a boat and I know there is a boat launch real close to there and could be worth checking out. I have always thought there has to be something in the Sandusky bay area that is OK.

Yeah I've been doing A LOT of scouting around and there really isnt a ton of great places around here. At least that I've found yet. I still think there has to be something worthwhile on Kellys Island or Bass Island if you wanna pay for the ferry ride out.

There is a boat launch that MIGHT work, but I was talking to Joel and we both agreed that it would be pretty sketchy....forgive me but I cant remember the name of the place. I think Joel said he rode there before though...
