My 2012 OR Quiver is on its way so I am selling my slightly used 2010 Ocean Rodeo Rise Quiver. Includes 3 kites and 2 bars; 7M, 11M & 14M 2010 Rise Kites with two bars 48-55cm & 42-49cm. All 3 Kites are green and the warranty bladders were all replaced already. The 7M was just replaced this week and last year on the 11M & 14M. All professionally installed by AirTime Kite in Florida. I also have 2 sets of additional warranty bladders that will go with the quiver; 1 set for the 14M and 1 set for the 11M. I do not have an extra set for the 7M, sorry.

I had knee surgery early in 2011, so the kites had very little use. There is a little discoloring on the canopy, but nothing that affects performance.

$1,800 All 3 kites, 2 bars and extra bladders
OR
$800 14M Kite and 48-55cm bar and extra set of bladders
OR
$1,200 11M & 7M Kite and 42-49cm bar and extra set of bladders

I am in Metro Detroit on Lake St Clair, I am willing to arrange shipping to Canada and/or meet way to deliver.

John

Go to www.KiteMI.com and click on the Shops and Schools Links. There is one shop in Toledo and 3-4 in Metro Detroit that might travel down to Ohio for lessons. Cleveland has to be the worst place to try and learn, but Lake Erie around the Michigan border has some forgiving spots. Give the shops on my site a call and see if they will schedule something for you in Ohio. If not, shops near Lake St Clair (3 hours) here in Metro Detroit do training and its perfect for beginners. If you want the best copnditions and looking for a weekend camp look up the shops in Tawas MI pn Lake Huron, its about 5-6 hours from you and well worth it on a good weekend. All gear is included in your training, so there is no need to purchase anything prior to getting instruction.

Let me know what you find or if you need any further information.

I don't have time today to make it to Harsen's, but if I did it would be my choice. Since its prior to Memorial Day I am going to try and get a session in at Metro (from the Beach) on the SW around 2pm to 5pm.

I was glad to be a part of the 2nd annual HOBX 2011 (Hair on the Balls) Hatteras trip again this year. We had great accommodations right on the sound and could launch and land from our backyard. We had perfect weather, excellent food (thanks Chef Mark) and a real cool group of people (Mark, Luke, John, Marty, Blake and Garret). It was too bad Tom could not join us again this year, but I heard he is going to be a pro surfer in CA. It was great to hang with our homeboy Mr. Bryan Elkus again. Word has it at the end of the summer Byran is moving on from Real.

I gave poker lessons (book to follow), Mark missed his calling as a chef (pesto eggs baby), Blake managed to destroy every piece of gear he tested (and borrowed) and Luke was instrumental in reading my Jeep manual and giving instructions (while we were axel deep in sand).

Good wind, good times, good people. Count me in for next year!

It is good to be back on the local scene and good to see everyone out at Metro yesterday, been a long time. Looks like Monday will bring more wind, I will either be on the beach (at Metro) or head to Harsens to score on the SW turning WSW in early afternoon.

My son is selling his slightly used MBS Landboard Atom 80, I think its a 2009 model. Here is a link to the MBS site, but this is for the 2010 model http://www.mbs.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=333

The max weight on this board is around 100lbs, so no husky inquiries please. I do have the brake system, but it is disasembled currently since the obard was used for kiting.

For sale (1) very cool alien sandboard made by Venomous Sandobards http://www.venomousboards.com/

I thought I would get a chance to use this, but never did. Great board quiver addition for the Tawas kiter that get skunked all the time. Fun to kite on the sand on those 10mph days and would be a hoot at the sand dunes!

$70 like brand new

Try posting this on the Kite Ohio forum www.KiteOH.com there is a good group of guys that ride in and around the Ohio Michigan border. There is a shop in Toledo that might be able to confirm which spots to ride at what times of the year. Their number can be found in our Shops/Retailers tab on www.KiteMI.com

I will try and get the Lake Erie tab on www.KiteMI.com populated soon.

I think the Blue Lagoon Marina where Detroit Kiteboarding's shop is might allow camping. This is right on the shore of Lake St Clair and they have allowed camping at our kiteboarding events many times. You should give Kyle a call and see 248-245-5016, you might be able to score a spot on the point.

Rick took Marcus and I out on the newly renovated Sea Monster (previously known as the Sea Turtle) for a water test yesterday to a secret location in Tawas. I can't wait until he is finished with it, very very cool!

We did not have time to show off Rick's 32 foot slider feature, but word on the street has it that Rick tested it under the cover of darkness. Very sweet self contained docking lift system, can't wait to get the carpet and upholstery on.

Here are a couple nice shot of Rick airborne over the boat.

Tom, Dave, Erik, Kyle and I made it out last Wed to a secret spot on Lake St Clair before the storms rolled in. I got some good pics of Shubes deadman over large breasts and the storm rolling in.

Makr, I forgot to mention in my Rental Gear post about renting a stand up paddle board.

Now the oppsite effect, I come to Tawas and get skunked. It would be nice to rent a stand up paddle board so my trip is not wasted.

Post if you have this type of program too.

Mark, I was wondering if you had a rental program for advanced riders?

I want to ride Tawas today and have two kites in for warranty repair. I would gladly pay for rentals or a program that allows me not to have to bring all my gear with me each time I come to Tawas. I have a cottage in Mid-Michigan and am about an hour from Tawas. When its windy I usually head over for the day, but the problem is I have to bring my 3 kites and two borads each trip to our cottage. With the family, dog and weeknd end normal stuff my kite gear sometimes has to be sacrificed.

I understand there has to some type of responsibiliy if I wreck or lose a kite and/or board. I also think for many riders this type of program would be a great program and well worth it. There are only so many windy days and to head up to Tawas and not have the right kite or board and watch everyone else enjoy a windy day sucks. Not to mention if the same situation happens when I am in the Detroit area. No bad days if I would have your rental progrma as backup.

If you have a program for advanced riders you should post it in this thread. If not and I can get a super special rental on some kites today in Tawas call me.

I will be rolling into Tawas just before noon on Saturday. If my keen Turtle senses are correct that is when it will be rideable. I am going to demo the new Liquid Force boards that Mark has; TwinSkim and Wakesurf Fish.

QUOTE(MarkW @ Jun 29 2010, 11:22 AM) *
Hi Everyone,

I have posted something already a few month ago, unfortunately I had so much stuff to do at work that I would not concentrate on kiting.
But finally I have this weekend off. has someone any advice where to spend a great kiting weekend ? I live in Pittsburgh and wouldn t mind driving for a bit. The only problem I do have is, that I got all my equipment back in Europe. So I would need a place where I could rent some stuff.

Thanks so much for your help can t wait to get back on the water.

Mark

Mark, go to the shops and schools section of our sister site Kite Michigan www.KiteMI.com it lists most of the shops in the Great Lakes Region including our area.

If you call a shop just ask if they do rentals, some might depending on your skill level. For a weekend trip I am partial to East Tawas on Lake Huron here in Michigan. It might be too far for you since its 3 hours from the Michigan/Ohio border. In East Tawas there are two local shops that do rentals, lessons and camps. My second choice for a weekend trip would be the west coast of Michigan (Grand Haven) on Lake Michigan. I think it is also about 3 hours from the Ohio/Michigan border with shops that do rentals too.

I hope that helps!

Looking to score my first real Epic Session at Kettle Point, is the forecast for Tuesday and/or Wed one of those?

I know the strong overnight NW is what we want but there is some North forecasted with it.

Any help from the KP guru's

Arrived just in time to get about an hour in of steady Atlantis wind with JonTan, Vlad and Rick. Capped off the night with a little cash game poker at the Oscoda Poker Room.

Might head back up to Tawas mid week for an over nighter if conditions look good.

Heading to Tawas now to drop off the KiteUS Jeep for Mr. Safety to work on. Looks like I could score an Atlantis sunset session. Staying over night and looking to catch up with the clan. Not that often do I get a weekend night get out of jail pass.

Woooooooooooooooo
