Anyone around the royal oak area the next couple nights could help me install a leading edge bladder on this epic screamer? I can't get it in there without twisting! Arrrrrgh!!!!! Beers and burgers are on me, 313 805 8440

Can anyone do a demo? I would like to see as well.

My wife wants to go to Hawaii in October. I have never been but obviously want to kite.

I would like to learn to ride waves as well.

1) Is October ok for riding?
2). Where is the place to go? What island?

Thanks for any ideas.

I tested the seal tonight. No leak!!!!

Putting the kite away took me about an extra 5 minutes to really get the air out of the struts and rolled up nicely.

I pumped up the kite yesterday to assess the situation again. It does appear to be the valve.

However, the inflate valve which I thought was auto seal is not. I deflates just fine out of that vavle.

I found some epoxy in my house and sealed the deflate valve. It needs 24 hours to properly set so Iwill test it tonight after work.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will let you know how it works out.

BTW, has anyone actually replaced a bladder or taken it out of the fabric. It looks impossible.

Two interesting things from Airtime regarding Valve replacement.

1. Dump Valve size

"Ours will match up with your original. The 11mm designation for a deflate valve was established a long time ago but no longer reflects the actual size of the valve. Crazy, I know. But it's kind of like a 2x4. Not actually 2" x 4" any more."

Evidently what I thought was 20mm is not

2. Instructions on changing

"Typically the original valve can be removed by soaking it in hot water (not quite boiling) for about 30 seconds. If not, you will need to carefully cut away the old valve, being careful to cut as close to the valve base as possible to leave behind the smallest possible hole. Also be careful not to cut the backside of the bladder. If you need to do the cut method, place a piece of waxpaper inside the bladder to prevent the adhesive from the new valve from sticking to the backside of the bladder. This wax paper will float around inside after the install and will not cause any problems."

Sam I once had a similar situation and found the proper size valve on one of my kids beach toys. If not bring you scissors with you to Metro next time and harvest one off Victors kite when he's not looking.

I also saw this but I'm not sure if it the correct size.

Airtime Valves

I think that might do the trick. I sent an email to Airtime to ask if it will be the correct replacement piece.

Great advice. You are so money. I am psyched to fix it myself!

I noticed my kite was leaking air through the deflate valve on my 16m Liquid Force Session. The plug has a slight tear in it and appears to be causing the problem.

Unfortunately, I can not get a plug from LF and the kite has not been used very much.

Any chance someone out there has a Session that is in the graveyard? Would love to get just the plug for the deflate. It could be cut off.

For those of you who do not have a Session, it has an oversized plug.

If anyone else has a MacGuyver idea, I am certainly open to suggestions. I really don't want to replace a semi new kite.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Did not know where to put it.

Thanks,
Sam

I am taking the last week of August to go kiting somewhere in the US. I have plenty of frequent flier miles, but I want to take my wife and baby.

Any suggestions. Is Hatteras good that time of year? Is it a good place to take my fam?

Hope about the Gorge?

Thanks for any advise.

Is anyone interested in doing a day trip to kite this weekend? I would drive anywhere up to 2:30 hours each way.

Where did you end up riding? I was there about 10 years ago and it was the first time I ever saw kiting.

Make sure the bag is long enough. I have an LF rolling bad and my 151 fits but is crammed. I flew yesterday and the edge went through the bag and is slightly crushed. It will ride, but probably will need a new one.
