Great weekend at Tawas. It was great to see some many familiar faces and the opportunity to meet new riders. Big thanks to Arnot, Matt, and Chris from Tawas Board Riders for the Hospitality and the accommodations. If Sunday was any indication, your demo concept will be a huge success for next year; I wish you all the best. Timberline Lodge was great, thank you Jason.

Hello All,

If you have not been up to Tawas this summer, this would be a great weekend to come up and visit as the weather looks favorable for wind, especially on Sunday. I will have the new 2008 Naish Helix and Cult kites, the Thorn boards and the Stand-Up Paddle boards. Lots of great things to check out including all the gear from different brands and the two new shops in town (Brian's new shop in town and the Tawas Board Riders shop on the bay). let's hope for great weather.

Hello All,

I hope to get a chance to see a lot of you this weekend at Tawas. I will be up there Saturday and Sunday. I will have a lot of the 2008 Naish gear with me, including the Helix and Cult kites and some of the new boards.

A great weekend in Grand Haven with four days of wind. Thursday was rideable but light all day. Friday was off the chart with Gale force winds and overhead surf. Saturday was light and rideable for an hour. Sunday was a bluebird 12m day. Great event and great people. Many Metro Detroiters showed and rode impressively. Brian, Ryan, Kyle, John, Karl, Eric, Dan and Vlad just to name a few.

Hello All,

Tim Blanchard and I started this forum in 2002. Our vision was to have an unbiased riding forum with content free of sales and marketing hype. Over the years we have had great participation, support and our issues and the end result is what you see today. When KiteMi.com was conceived a couple of years ago, we had an agreement that the forum would eventually merge into the content of KiteMi.com. That time has come.

Effective October 1st, John Wardwall and KiteMi.com will take control of this forum and hopefully bring new life, more participation and provide a newly modified forum that is up-to-date, spam-free, open to everyone, free of personal attacks and designed to serve the Kiteboarding Community of Lake St. Clair and the State of Michigan. KiteMi.com has been a tremendous resource for Riders of the State of Michigan and hopefully the newly modified forum will bring everyone together and serve the needs and expectations or riders for years to come. In the next couple of weeks, John will be asking you for feedback. If you are a current user or a lurker, please take the opportunity to communicate your ideas and suggestions.

Thanks you for your time and consideration and we hope to see you on the water soon.

Regards,
Joe Bidawid

Personal attacks, passive or direct, have no place in This or any other kiteboarding forum and is Jack-Ass behavior. If you have a personal issue, please consider finding another medium to communicate your feelings.

If you are looking for the perfect place to learn to kiteboard or to improve your skills and are on a tight budget, Corpus Christi is a great option. SouthCoast Kiteboarding offers great packages for riders of all ability. Flights down there are around $350-$450 and everything else is cheap. The water is shallow and warm providing a friendly environment for improving your skills. Check out the site for more info or give them a call.

If you are heading up to Tawas in the next week, make sure you stop by the new TAWAS BOARD RIDERS shop. The shop is located at Jerry’s marina overlooking the bay, which is on tawas beach road on the way to Tawas State Park. The phone numbers is (989) 362-9906. If you want to check out the website, it's http://www.tawasboardriders.com/

Have a great and safe 4th of July and hopefully everyone will get some riding in.

Unofficial Forecast for Kitestock:

Here is the unofficial forecast for Kitestock based on some highly unreliable information (Please refer for Timmy B. or NOAA in that order for the official forecast):

Early Friday will be calm, most likely one or two warm PBR’s. Friday Evening I would expect things to pick up considerably, most likely 10-20 or maybe even more, a chance of some scattered ribs and chicken wings.

On Saturday, I would expect Gale force winds to toss around riders in sumo suits. I would not want to go up against Bob Log III in sumo-suite wrestling. Saturday evening, I would expect things to pick up again with the OG of Essex County, Brent Ford doing his magic on the mic.. Much like a tornado, look for Travis Kelly's band to shake down the house. Make sure to stay clear and provide ample room for Brar and the rest of the gang to do their thing on the dance floor.

On Sunday, things will heat up quickly in between riding sessions with riders fighting for RedBull and Pizza while gawking at the beautiful women of Kitestock.

I hope everyone had a good winter. I am back in town and ready to get the Naish van on the road. I had a great winter but super stoked on catching up with everyone again. My kick-off will be this weekend at the Mackite Great Lakes Kite Festival and hopefully there will be some near future demos with Detroit Kiteboarding and Tawas Boardriders, the new shop in Tawas. I hope everyone has a great, windy and safe May on Lake St. Clair.

I will try to get there by three. The entrance fee is required all year but this time of year there is not aways a guard in front. If you do not see a guard, you will see a sign asking you to go to the main office to obtain the permit. I hope that helps.

Looking at the radar, it looks like on and off drizzle most of the afternoon. I will postpone the trip to Harsen's for another day, hopefully soon.

If the rain holds off, it should be ridable at Harsen's tomorrow afternoon. I plan on getting there around 2pm and I have all the 2007 toys with me. I hope to see some of you there.

Hey E,

Talking to TimmyB., we are still holding out in hopes for a sunny warm south push. If we don't get that soon, we will change the name to the winter classic biggrin.gif

At this point, it is going to be the next "Bluebird" Metro day, regardless if it is a weekend or weekday.
