Found out afterwards how to get better resolution at full screen with youtube. It's a little time consuming so I'm not gonna mess with this one anymore. Onward and upward. No offense meant to Motorcity Kiteboarding,Red Belly board sports or GLK. Just want to share the stoke from the nature trail.

Tim where's that HD video @

What are you leaveing us? Haven't seen you around all year and your slowly selling off all your gear. I've never rode one of those boards. Do they work well with light wind? I'd like to try it out. Let me know when you'll be at the water. Miss you man!

You got some good pictures. Look's like I missed another great session over at Harsens. Forecast does look real nice for tomorrow/Monday. Are you gonna go out to Metro?

Aww.. You guy's must be really beat up from all the wind. Actually if you follow the Bible, the 7th day or last day of the week is the day of rest. Sunday seams to be a man made catholic church creation. To each their own.

When it's blowing 30knts or over I just like to watch the trees and see pictures of everyone else that rode. lol. My heart goes out to all those that are no longer with us. Hope everyone watches out for the new and old kiters and that we remember to be safe when it's really blowing like it has. I've seen an 8yr experienced, safe kiter! Take his last breath from a kiteing accident. Don't mean to be a downer. Just a reminder how important it is to STOP someone from doing something dangerous and help them do it safe, if you get the chance. You will feel guilty and some what responsible even if there was nothing you could do to change it. My guilty thought is " I should of stayed in and made sure everyone got out safe! ".

Good to hear everyone is just sore from all the fun.

Monday does look like the ticket for some stronger wind. Be there tomorrow!

Awww. Gonna miss it. I thought It was looking pretty good today. Ok..let's see what we can do to get an access opened up over by the bowl. Once we find a nice line across to the bowl, we'll have to start dumping our old kites into some trees. Once there trimmed down enough to look like stumps, I'm sure they'll remove them too.

I still haven't seen the Turtle this year. Where have you been?

Did you get to try out that new light wind kite you got? They're saying nnw 13 now, so I beleive it should be the general wind direction but I'm thinking it will be more or bring your big board.

Sunday's looking pretty good. North 16 - So what's up Kyle.....You got the new shop all set up. Where all comeing over on sunday. Haven't been out there yet this year. Is there still a clear spot to launch our kites from? You still rent gear and kite's too right? I might need some small fins for my board.

wow.. Some sweet moves there. Nice landing ontop of the hut. Is there a name for the trick the last guy does when he rides with the end of the board in the water backwards?

Kinda sounds like your talking about Dixie Lake in Clarkston. I've also have had alot of practice on pontiac like in the fall when they take down the swimming bouy's. You have the whole beach to yourself. Let me give you my phone number so we can car pool or something over to lagoon or metro. I live in Highland and drive right through clarkston to go to St clair. We need to get you up and rideing on a board. Here's my email..

Yeah..Bruce. I didn't have time to drive over to the lagoon that day. I never tried a West wind on Walled lake so had to try. Much better wind down by the Ole Ole. It's just such a scetchy launch anywhere you go.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=U...mp;t=h&z=17

Id say the only option at this launch on a South would be to the East of the swim area. I would walk the kite at least 3 docks down along the shore to the one that looks like a " T " by E Bay Dr. That should give you enough of a buffer from the land for safty. Drift launch or I could help you launch. Body drag using the board if the wind get's to light to get upwind. I try not to ever kite close to anything on these small lakes. Always keep the kite moveing or you could find it falling out of the sky if the wind is shifty or real gusty. It can be really intense at times for saftey reasons. Be safe. I don't want to encourage kiteing here then have you get hurt. If your not feeling to confident then try to plan a downwinder on the lake.

The park at the south end would be great for a North wind. I used to launch from the state park and end up down in that little bay outside the park in the water. I'm thinking of just parking at the lakeview bar and grill then just walking out in the water at the park to launch my kite next time. Nice and shallow all around and It looks like that's the sand bar out in the middle. You can stand up out there!

If you have time the drive to lagoon or lake st clair is always better. These are just quick fix's for day's I cant make the drive like you. I've had my best kiteing on this lake so far on a North wind. Haven't done a South yet. Usually when it's a good south I'm makeing plans to head to Metro.

Hit up Walled Lake yesterday, W 14 knots. Stood in the public swim area on the North end of the lake. Drift launched my kite on the down wind side away from all the swimmers. Up and away out to the middle of the lake. I didn't know it was under waist deep out in the middle of the lake? I think a South wind would be better since there was alot of playing with the set's of gusts that would come in. Willing to try my new idea on how to get on the water with a North wind. I actually rode for a hour then made it right back to the swim area I came in at. Very gusty wind though. I dropped my kite out in the middle once in a lull, but it was no problem to launch when the next set of wind came in.

Very interesting! I'm gonna have to try it. I don't know if it would work so much with a steady breeze. Metro get's some good thermals but there pretty steady when they kick in. Super high and floaty jumps. Just might be enough time to bring that kite around again. I think maybe it's more of a matter of how high you are. Since you stall the kite and use gravity to throw the kite around again. Very cool trick. Have you ever tried?

I've done that second swing that Armin get's when he looped the kite. It is such a rush, Did not know it could be recreated just by flying the kite.

I love the float and pull of a big kite in light wind. I wonder if they'll have a standard fabric version. Wish we had a nice open gusty lake like that. Hay Don, Do you live in Muskegon?

Nice video.

Up North around Ossineke State Park, Down to Negwegon state park. Upper level clouds where traveling from the North West. Lower level clouds moveing from the West. Inland it was West but at the water it was blowing from the South East. White caps and good wind all day.

Here's another little spot I found. A mix of sandy bottom and Rocky bottom. Need to go finless here and be prepared to bring a beater board because of the shallow water and rocks. Very beautiful to ride. No fun for beginners because of the rocks though.

South side of the peninsula is where I'm talking about. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=U...mp;t=h&z=17

Back in the bay outside Ossineke state park.

Talk to Kyle at Detroit Kiteboarding. He might still rent kiteboarding gear. I'm still waiting for some good North wind and some free time to hit up The Lagoon. It is nice and sandy there with shallow water all around. Be safe and have fun. Maybe I'll see yeah around.

I got my kite stuck in the tree to the right of the launch! laugh.gif Was that your new lightwind kite you were talking about? Oh... Since I can't seam to private message anyone on this site? Rick.. I seen your jump to the pond on YouTube. I must admit- It was much more impressive when I was walking on the beach and you came flying over me and landed in the pond. It took me a little while to figure it out since it wasn't really that windy on the water. Maybe, 10ft max jumps but dropped right down in 3 seconds. Here you come with a 20 foot floater over the beach!

Stopped by Tawas on my way up to Ossineke in Thunder Bay. Got to ride the West wind at Tawas bay for the first time. Wow...I only brought my 19m since I thought I would'nt hardly see any wind all weekend. Boy was I wrong. Hay Steve, What size kite where you on? I ended up comeing in with my kite parked just above the water on my left, and I was rideing downwind to the right. Until that day I didn't know you could ride in the opposite direction of the kite. blink.gif no kidding. I'm sure there must of been some good days' to follow also. Just like the good old days. One giant kite and to much wind.

I would think about Tawas if your bringing your family. It's probably the most likely spot to score some wind also. Brian has a kiteboarding shop in town on main street and there's another out at the Tawas Point state park. My family absolutely loves it up there. There's plenty of shallow water for learning and the shoreline is friendly.

Don't get me wrong I love Lake St. Clair. F.Y.I. - Metro has concrete block's around the shore line. Mt Clemens, drains it's sewer system into the Clinton River just up stream from Metro and it get's all clogged up in the bay there. North of the Clinton River is the Blue Lagoon and the water is beautiful. It only works on a N - NE - NW or maybe a West that I know of.

I just got back from up North and It's so worth the trip. Stopped at Tawas then Up to Ossineke, just below Alpena(Thunder Bay). I don't mean anything bad about Metro either. Just wanted to give you a heads up since I'd like for your family to get the most out of the trip also. I can't even get my wife to come back to Metro with me because she thought the water was so bad and that was 5 years ago when It was still so,so. She'll drive up to Tawas with me for the day though!

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm just giveing you my honest opinion from my wife's perspective. I think were all a little bummed about the water condition at Metro.

I would love to meet up and do some rideing. Let us know where you'll be.
