There isn't any launch site on the bay side from the point. Mostly march area. Could probably find a way if you really want to. From the north end of the bay, you can launch at Turkey point.
Most people going to long point launch on the south side. Check out this map for more info on the area and other spots. Pretty cool map by the way...

ya. Good time at the belle yesterday.
To compare notes. Got the the belle at around 12:30. Took 30 minutes to get motivated to get out of the car. Pumped up a 12m kite. Rode for a bit, but was a bit underpowerded on my smallish board. People with bigger boards seemed to be riding ok. Then used my skim with my 12m until 4:30 or so. Then around six Tim and I went for the downwinder. We were on 14 and 16 kites. I was totally over powered and should have sticked with my 12m. So Tim and I decided to see how high and how long we could stay in the air!! Pretty sweet! best session of the weekend especially since the sun came out.

Good call Tim... finally!!

I didn't want to brag too much, so I don't make you all feel jealous. But since you're forcing me to do so I will. Well don't worry, I'll keep it to my kiting claims and nothing personal.

Check those out... from yesterday's riding!

Another 20 cm of snow overnight. We must be at 3 foot of snow from the last few days only. And more to come! This weekend will be epic I think. Wind forecast is good too!

We received tons of fresh snow in the last few days, and lot more to come apparently. Conditions are at an all time best around here. Road trip anyone?

yo yo

Everything is good around here. I have been too busy to ride unfortunately, but people started to get decent rides around here I think.
I'm going up north to North Bay this weekend for a kite event. I'll be doing a little demo/clinic.
Snow is getting pretty good around here and all the lakes are frozen solid.

Might be an event beginning of March on Bass lake like last year. You guys should plan on coming up again. It was great last year!

I'm going there in March. I could tell you more about it when I come back.
From my research, the main spots that people are kiting are Varadero and Cayo Guillermo. I'm going to Cayo Guillermo. A little bit more in the middle of nowhere (not much night life), but hopefully better conditions. Don't think there's any rental or shop there. Maybe a school in Varadero, but I'm not sure.
Both spots are beginner friendly.

I rode a bit north of you on lake Huron. Started in the morning in a 14m kite and by mid afternoon, I was lit up on my 8m. Then it never stopped. What a day! Warm air temperature but the water was pretty cold unfortunatly.
Good day! Hope you guys got it too.

Check out our pics from our east coast trip at the end of August.
It's on the north east corner of New Brunswick in a place call Shippagan.
Really nice place with lots of riding spots. There's a wave and flat water spot for pretty much every wind direction. All that within 20 minute drive.

Forecast is for NE... wouldn't that be offshore and pretty gusty? And the waves would grow so big because it's not building from the west...

do you melt the wax in a pot and dip it in or just rub it on the line?

I like the Pelee island crossing a lot. We can then take the ferry back to the starting point. Something to look into for sure.

ahah!! that 2000 lake st-clair footage is hilarious. I totally forgot about that vid.
Not sure what's funnier. That huge bar or Timmy's long hair?

Maybe it's simply the pink kite. laugh.gif

Whatever it is, that video needs to be a million time bigger on my screen, so I can confirm it's Timmy riding.

Good one

Sweet video! Thanks dude.

Yeah, the footage that's not Kitestock is from Wasaga last Saturday. We got 3 days in a row of riding 8-12m meter kites. It was an amazing weekend. Too bad the temperature was minus a million degrees!

Woohoo! The wind forecast for Saturday just got upgraded on iwindsurf!!!
Sounds too good to be true, but I hope they're right for once!! Let's keep our finger crossed for the wind, so we can all have a chance to get hurt on that sweet kicker! Nice work Smokey!
See you all this weekend. It sounds like you guys worked hard to set up what looks like an amazing weekend. You should be rewarded with some good wind!

I have some friends in Quebec that have been selling kite repair kit for a while now with good success.
You might want to check it out at http://www.kitefix.com/
It's kinda like a first aid kit but for your kite. Their site also have lots of video of 'how to' repair.
The kit might be overkill for bussle problem. Sail tape on each side is probably good enough.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. Could be usefull to have.
