Looks really good for Mbay today. On a WNW you can ride right out to the south slick if you dare smile.gif

Forecast looks like a solid WNW late this afternoon. Thinking a Belle River session is in order.
I probably won't make it until 6:30pm.

Anyone else going to kite at BR?

Todd

If you can make the drive the huge south slick at Mitchell's Bay you can ride right out to on a WNW

Hello PBK,

Good to see you have expanded from skypilot (the forum you killed) and are continuing your legacy by spamming all the other forums as well.

Hey Vlad,

Has been a long time! I am busy on sunday but hope to get out near the 402 on saturday afternoon as the SW forecast looks pretty good and there is 2-3 feet of snow in that area. Anyone else in?

We are planning on getting a little group from MI to come over Sunday. Give me a call/txt if you have any suggestions of spots, or if you want to meet up.

Forecast temp and wind is looking pretty good and water temp data shows 55F off Erieau which is warmest in the lakes so hope to get one last good water session in this fall behind the pier at Erieau. Any other takers? Was out here two weekend ago in 30Kts and the water was nice (no hood and I lasted 2 hours)

Hey Guys,

Thinking about hitting up the pier at Erieau tomorrow afternoon if the wind gets up like forecast. I am planning on bring the zodiac to transport us to the the sandbar on the other side of the pier so you can ride waves or the slick inside the bay (or ride right over the sandbar as you please.) Normally you have to launch upwind of the pier and ride way out and downwind around the pier to get to the sweet spot (and there is the potential to get stranded down there if the wind dies or equipment fails).

If interested in checking it out contact me at 519-919-7907.

P.S Erieau is on lake erie about 1 hrs from Windsor.

Wind turbines were humming on the drive down to Leamington this morning. Looks like a great wave afternoon for Wheatley on Erie. IF you have never been there the launch is a bit of a secret spot that is hard to find. I hope to get there about 4pm so give me a pm or call if you want to check this awesome spot out.

Hi Nick,

That is my rails, wood and carpet. IF it is still there could you stash it for me. I plan on setting it up the next day I get a chance to get down to the bay, hopefully this weekend.

thanks smile.gif

QUOTE(NickChmielewski @ Jun 7 2010, 04:48 PM) *
Wish I was there.....had to work in Sudbury though. Anybody ever been there and rode Lake Laurentian? Moonlight Beach?

On another note.....

Who left their rail slide in the tree at mbay? and do they plan on coming back to get it?
If its still there tomorrow ill pick it up and take it home......and they can contact me to get it back.

If someone complains about it being left there the C-K works dept will confiscate and trash it.
Its kind of a danger as its big and heavy and kids play in those trees.

Will be hitting up Maby this afternoon, hoping for a 4pm arrival time to get in a few hours before the front hits the area. Even if the rain and front hit about 4pm looks good SW after the rain passes till sunset. Any other takers? Looks like the weekend is going to be cold.

bouy is already going off near 20kts as of this morning!!

Hello all,

Kitestock is a go again this year per usual the first weekend in June the 4-6th. Setup is the same as last year, we will be based at The Garden Patch Hunting lodge on the edge of town at the stop sign. Friday is pretty chill with campfire and acoustics. The party saturday night this year will feature the return of the offical band of kitestock Ruth's Hat and another fine local southern ontario group truckstop super friends. Camping is available both nights right at the party site and hotel rooms are still available as well. Will update soon with further details for this year as plans get finalilized. Hope to see a big crew from Detroit this year! Rarely get to Metro or Tawas to ride anymore and this is usually the only time of the year I get a chance to hang with the killer crew from the MI.

Looks like there could be a dump of snow for snowkiting somewhere between Sarnia and London tonight and tomorrow.
We have a great field in that area (south of 402 near Alvinston) that usually gets dumped on with snowsqualls and we have permission to use. Might try to get out tomorrow or later in the week. Give me a call if interested in joining.

Teathering the kite to the kayak is a very bad idea. I recall in 1999 when I was still living on Vancouver Island hearing about a guy that died when he go separated from his kayak while crossing Georgia Strait by a large swell and the kite kept flying off with the kayak attached. He had flotation but they found him dead due to hypothermia (was December so air and water ~50F)

3m HQ Hydra or similar would be a good choice of kite. Learn to fly a kite before even considering options as you will see that some of your ideas are not good ones when you get an understanding for the power of the kite.

Hoping to get out on friday after work or early sat. morning if the southerly pans out and it isn't raining cats and dogs. Riding alone sucks, have had a half dozen awesome session this fall on erie and only 1 has not been a solo mission.

Here are the options for friday about 4pm
1. Erieau Pier
2. Wheatley
3. SeaCliff (Leamington)

If there is alot of East Erieau would be the best call. If Southerly and really strong (25kts) Seacliff has a sweet protect wave and it can be pretty big if it is true S. Wheatley would be the best if the wind is in the 15-20kts range as it is fully exposed and would have bigger swells than Erieau or SeaCliff. Any takers, the water is still manageable in the mid 50's. I will not even ride St.Clair right now unless it is a 70F day and sunny and the water is so cold.

Hey Ed,

hope to head to erieau behind the pier today if winds get over 25kts for waves. Rode at Wheatley yesterday and it was pretty fun and water was not to bad, rode 3 hrs and wasn't cold at the end of the session. Only in the mood for waves, if doesn't look to be head high from w.erie buoy reading not going to head out. Planning for a 1-4pm session if it pans out.

I think I can swing through Wheatly on the way home .....The W Erie bouy is showing 30knts @ 5pm, any idea what the near shore winds will be like Tim?

Prob around the same. I have ridden here twice on Easterlies this fall and checked the buoy when I got home and what the w.erie was saying was pretty much what I rode in. ENE is sideshore to a slightbit side off; E sideshore and SE side on.

Hope to get there by 4 so can give me a call at 519-919-7907 if you want and update. Current is really strong so you will want to make a beeline upwind your first tack out before riding any waves to get the spot dialed in and stay away from the breakwalls that start about 500m downwind.

If anyone wants to join me for a wave session friday afternoon (hope to get there about 4pm) I will be at Wheatley. The spot to lauch is the public beach beside holiday harbour campground.

here are directions
http
://www.staycanada.ca/details/19758-hol...sort_wheatley/

This is an advance only spot with alot of current (more difficult riding spot than Kettle Point on Huron) but if you are looking for waves this spot is sick and forecasts is looking like it is going to be huge tomorrow.

Here is the bouy link, hope to see it 6ft plus by noon tomorrow.

hey Ed,

Have been riding at Wheatley Provincial park on these E and ENE winds. checked it out today on the way home and the wind was side off but the waves where unreal! Lines of headhigh swell with big closeout sets coming thru every few minutes. Sat if the wind doesn't have to much north in it am going to head down there. The water is still pretty warm, much warmer than the air still. This is becoming my fav. wave spot now almost at par with KP when it is E or ENE, True NE starts getting a bit side off and sketchy.

The spot is not very friendly though as the shorebreak is munching, there is a ton of current and lots of breakwalls if you get more than 100m downwinded, but the sandbar about 500m offshore kicks up a killer wave that makes it all worth it. Got some pics on my cellphone that I will try to post to show you the deal.
