Sandusky Bay is nicely frozen over between Dempsey Boat Launch and Johnson's Island. That is one hard, thick sheet of ice. Farther out it gets jagged, and I saw some open areas off Johnson's Island. There are also a lot of big ice dunes that should make for good terrain once the bay freezes over better and they get weathered a bit.

Pretty cool Saul. Thanks for the link. Is it black enough for skates? Ill be out there in a couple of weeks.

I think the ice is smooth enough for skates. I've never tried them. I prefer skis.

Its not black ice, except in small spots that were open water for a bit after the rest froze. Everything else is white ice. Some of it bumpy, some very smooth. The smoothest areas are close to shore. That's where I had my best speed runs.
