Kite U.S. Forums _ Land / Snow _ Where to go out East?

I will be in Madison from the 13 - 16 and looking for somewhere to ride. Anybody ride in the farm fields in Geneva or Ashtabula? I will probably be using a snowboard and was wonder if I should bring my 9m or 15m - I'm 195lbs. Would appreciate any snowkite tips as this will be my first time.

Never used any of those fields. If you are willing to take a longer drive, I would recommend Presque Isle, Pymatuming Reserviour, or Mosquitto Lake. Mosquitto lake is just straight down rt. 11 from Ashtabula.

Since you are a beginner, you might want to go to Presque Isle, instead. I don't know of anyone who kites on Mosquitto lake or Pymatuming, but at Presque, you will find Lee Sedgewick, who has been doing this longer than anyone else. There is also Joe and Janie Krineski who use snowboards.

You will need a good helmet, kneepads, and elbow pads.

So I just checked the forecast and I can't believe it. I've listened to my family complain for the past month about all the snow they have and now that I'm finally coming up to Ohio there isn't going to be any. How far a drive to get to snow this weekend - i.e. do the hills of PA or NY have any and is there anywhere to kite up there?
