People,

3 out of past 7 evenings there was a very nice breeze that has been good for riding.

Last night went from basically nothing or slightly onshore at 6 pm to about 15 kts at 8 to 8.30 then incrreased to about 18-20 around 9.00.

Comes up around 8.00 pm til past sun down. Usually about 17-18 kts. On one of the nights should have been on 12m. The ususal lofty warm wind and nice sunsets. I've been riding til about 9.45, about half hour after sunset. A little moon lit riding as well earlier in the week.

I'm on vacation for a (ahem) month , riding as much as possible. 519 816 3197.

Going to have to come and ride your side like the good ole days! Was talking about it all last week that it would go off at sunset but ended up on the other side of LSC. Will need to round up the troops for a road trip soon.

I think these east winds are helping the canadian thermals, they skim off the the hottest water so there is more of a difference between land and water, where a west wind I think helps to thermal metro.

When they do happen the thermal wind always goes off in the evening. It really is hard to
tell until the day of, since a couple of things have to happen. It has to be a clear day so the sun
can warm up the fields, especially in the evening, blue skies. As well the wind must already
be from the NW through NE direction. The thermals will generally mellow out over the summer as the tempature spread between the water and the air narrows, largely due to the water warming up. The bigger the tempature differential the greater the heating effect of the warm fields heating up the cooler air coming in over the land off the lake. The air is warmed up, acclerates and rises causing that sweet steady thermal breeze.
So where to kite? Belle River or East, my house near Stoney Point and or a couple of small parks in the area.

You really can do some great down winders as there is a spot to access the water about every 6 0r 7 miles out here.
