Kite U.S. Forums _ Northern Michigan _ Ice Water Riding

Posted by: D_Clark Apr 15 2008, 10:52 AM

I thought that I would post in with an update that the northern michigan crew has started our season. Last week some of the guys rode, reports came in from Point Betsie and I observed the crew riding in the bay. I myself haven't been in yet because the water temps are around 36 degrees and that is COLD. I just looked on the satellite and Lake St. Claire is already up to 41-43 degrees.

Keep in mind that our waters are crystal clear and very scenic because they are seriously cold. And they are deep blue because the Lake and its bays are deep. hopefully we'll hit 50 degrees by june.

Lucky for us we have lots of shallow shelfs to ride that at least allow us to walk in instead of swimming.

Thats the early season report from up here. Coming soon a good drysuit and cold water gear review.
