Kite U.S. Forums _ Knowledge Center _ Eardrum Considerations.

Posted by: skysurfr Jun 22 2005, 11:11 AM

After smacking my ear flat on the water, I learned I had perforated an eardrum. I come to find out how common this injury really is. It seems its very common among wakeboarders, waterskiers, surfers, platform divers, and kiteboarders.

Using a helmet that covered my ears would have prevented it, or using some earplugs as well.

Mine will take two weeks to heal up and I must stay out of the water. It could take up to two months, if it was a serious perforation.

Just a heads up!

Mike
